The Children's Choirs of Southwest Missouri enrolls approximately 135 children from 28 Springfield schools and 14 surrounding towns, covering seven Southwest Missouri counties; the students attend public, private and home schools.
Through the generous support of The Community Foundation of the Ozarks, the Wal Mart Foundation, the Trott Family Foundation, the Vogel Scholarship Fund, and other private contributions; financial assistance based on need is extended to approximately 30% of students in Children's Choirs.
In the 18-year history of CCSM, members have had many wonderful experiences singing at events all over the United States. In 2001, opportunities for international travel were added to the program with a performance tour of Italy. This trip was followed by tours of Japan in 2002, England and France in 2004 and New York City in the summer of 2006.
The touring choirs performed in St. Peter's Basilica and St. Mark's Cathedral in Italy; Notre Dame and the American Cathedral in Paris; The Cemetery for the American War Dead in France; Christ Church in Watford, England; and St. Patrick's Cathedral in New York City.
CCSM offers a performance-based music education program for the children of Southwest Missouri, dedicated to meeting individual needs while affording all the opportunity to learn and perform choral literature of the highest caliber.
